Leopards out match in preseason opener.

Posted Friday, August 29, 2008 by Leo Pard
On a very hot night in Bushnell, the Leopards gave up 42 point to number two ranked South Sumter Thursday nignt. The debut of new coach Palmer was one of many blanks to fill. Mental mistakes hurt Hernando's chances to substain good drives. Fumbled snaps, delay of games, missed tackles and position assignments all are things that has to be corrected. Though this will be the most physically and well seasoned team they will face, the leopards showed good signs in some of their key positions. At QB, Daniels completed 5 of 9 for 85 yards and Delainie rushed for 42 yards on six carries. Byrd spark the offense with 2 catches for 40 yards. Defensively, there still some work to be done. South Sumter rushed for 268 against a very young Leopard defense. Some pluses for the defense is that they made 3 sacks, So. LB William Alderman and Jr. OLB Kenny Brown had an impressive showing making some good plays. The Leopards will get back to work and start preparing for Central. From now on it counts and Hernando has no margin for error.
